DC Start Dining

DC Start students will have flexible options for food and dining, including:

Dining In: Students can shop for food and prepare meals in their apartments. Each apartment has a full-size refrigerator and freezer, stove and oven, and microwave. There are several nearby grocery stores, including Trader Joe’s, Safeway, Whole Foods, and Streets Market.

Touchdown Market: Our new Touchdown Market is located on the garden level of the Wolpe Center. It is stocked with beverages, snacks (including items like yogurt and fresh fruit), and entrées such as wraps and salads. The market is self-service, and purchases are made with cards pre-loaded with funds and distributed to students upon move-in.

City Bucks DC: In partnership with Cornell Dining, City Bucks DC allows you to order delivery and takeout meals through your Cornell Dining account and enjoy related discounts at local restaurants. View the app instructions below.

Community Meals: During their time in DC, students can expect to occasionally be hosted for meals in the Wolpe Center and during outings around the city.

City Bucks DC – Instructions

Before you begin…

  • City Bucks DC is a type of Cornell Dining tender that can only be spent using the Grubhub app. However, you can only add funds to this tender using Cornell’s GET app.
  • The City Bucks DC tender is only available to students in the Brooks School DC Start Program.
  • Adding and managing the City Bucks DC tender will require you to use Cornell’s two-step login to keep your account safe. Read more about two-step login and set up DUO for iPhone or Android. It will also require you to use the GET Mobile app to add funds.
  • Funds can be added by credit card or Bursar billing via the GET app. It can take up to 10 minutes for funds added via GET to appear in your Grubhub app.
  • If you used Grubhub at another college or university, you need to disassociate from that campus and remove your campus card from the Grubhub app before adding Cornell’s DC campus or adding your Cornell ID Card.

Getting Started

Install the Grubhub app & create an account:

  1. If you already have the Grubhub app installed on your mobile device and a Grubhub account, you can skip steps 1 & 2. Otherwise, find the Grubhub app in the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and download it to your mobile device.
  2. Once the app is installed, create an account. You can use a personal email address or your Cornell email.

Add your Campus:

  1. Navigate to your Account. See Figure 1.
  2. Click on the Campus Dining option in the navigation.
  3. On the Select your campus screen, you are searching for the campus named: “Cornell University – Brooks School – DC”. Select this campus once you find it, then click the Next,  See Figure 2.
  4. Select your affiliation when prompted with the screen asking What do you do on campus?, then click the Join campus
  5. [optional] As a student, you have the added benefit of joining Grubhub+ for free. You may see a pop-up in you Grubhub app, after adding the campus, urging you to join or learn more about Grubhub+. Follow the instructions as prompted to join Grubhub+.
