Gavin Mosley is a Professor, Government Relations professional and proud alumnus of the College of Human Ecology currently teaching courses on public-private partnerships and their relationships to the global transition to clean and renewable forms of energy within the Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy at Cornell University! Professor Mosley’s career began as a Legislative Intern and Aide with the Finance, Ways and Means committee of the Tennessee General Assembly under the leadership of then Chair, Representative Charles Sargent. Professor Mosley has held multiple roles including Policy Consultant for the Office of Shelby County Mayor, Lee Harris, Transition Team Lead for poverty and homelessness initiatives for Memphis Mayor, Jim Strickland, Educational Leadership Fellow with the Tennessee Department of Education under the leadership of Commissioner, Dr. Penny Schwinn and Corpsman with Teach for America.

Professor Mosley’s pro-bono work also includes more than five years as the President of the local non-profit, Twelve Stones INC – which aims to help curb food insecurity in inner city Memphis, Tennessee. Most recently, Professor Mosley served on the Government Relations team for AVANGRID, a global leader in the renewables and utilities industry – in this role, Professor Mosley secured more than $1million in funding for the Ithaca Bikeshare program and other local nonprofits, brought to resolution the longstanding Tompkins County rail trail dispute, secured more than $1 million in economic development for job expansion efforts with local small businesses and secured research funding for graduate students within the Brooks School. An alumnus of Middle Tennessee State University, Gavin holds graduate degrees in Educational Policy and Public Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Cornell University, respectively.

In his spare time, Professor Mosley advises start-ups in the energy and AI fields and serves as the Campus Advisor for the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. Gavin is proud to serve as an Interim Advisor for Student and Career Services within the Brooks School and looks forward to continuing active engagement as an alumnus of the MPA program at Cornell!
