Derek Cabrera is a systems scientist whose research focuses on cognitive complexity. His DSRP-483 (cognitive) and VMCL (systems thinking leadership) theories, for which he was inducted into the International Academy for Systems and Cybernetic Sciences, are widely applied in education, government, military, and corporate settings.

Cabrera currently teaches Systems Thinking and Systems Leadership courses for both the MPA and Executive MPA programs and co-directs the Systems Thinking, Modeling, and Leadership (STML) graduate certificate program. He also oversees the world’s largest systems thinking conference and co-hosts the Cabrera Lab Podcast through the Cabrera Research Lab.

Professor Cabrera received his Ph.D. in Nonlinear Systems from Cornell University.
