Summer 2025 CIW cohort

Where will I live?

CIW is a residential program. Undergraduate students are required to live in the CIW Wolpe Center.

As a CIW student, you’ll live in the Cornell Wolpe Center, located in the heart of Dupont Circle, at 2148 O Street NW, Washington, DC 20037.

The building includes a student lounge, laundry facilities on every floor, and an equipment closet for sporting equipment, vacuum cleaners, and other supplies.

The Wolpe Center’s residential units consist of

  • Single occupancy apartments
  • Double occupancy apartments

To secure an apartment for the semester, you’ll complete a housing application in StarRez.

PLEASE NOTE: If you require a disability-related housing accommodation, please submit a request to the SDS office. You are responsible for sharing any accomodation information with the CIW office. For more information on housing related accommodations please visit SDS’s website.

 

Students often ask

Will I have a roommate? May I choose my roommate?

Yes, you should anticipate having a roommate. Yes, you may indicate your choice of roommate(s) in your StarRez housing application.

What’s in the apartment?

Your apartment will be supplied with

  • Basic furniture (dressers, beds, desks, chairs)
  • Wireless internet
  • Heating/air conditioning units
  • A full bathroom with shower curtain
  • A renovated kitchen with a refrigerator, stove/oven and microwave
  • Trash can

What should I bring?

We suggest you pack

  • Casual, business casual, and business professional clothing
  • Bed linens (twin XL)
  • Towels
  • Toilet paper and other bathroom supplies
  • Pots, pans, dishes, utensils, a dish rack, and other kitchen supplies

Dining

Students will have flexible options for food and dining, including:

  • Dining In: Students can shop for food and prepare meals in their apartments. Each apartment has a full-size refrigerator and freezer, stove and oven, and microwave. There are several nearby grocery stores, including Trader Joe’s, Safeway, Whole Foods, and Streets Market.

  • Touchdown Market: Our new Touchdown Market is located on the garden level of the Wolpe Center. It is stocked with beverages, snacks (including items like yogurt and fresh fruit), and entrées such as wraps and salads. The market is self-service, and purchases are made with cards pre-loaded with funds and distributed to students upon move-in.

  • Community Meals: During their time in DC, students can expect to occasionally be hosted for meals in the Wolpe Center and during outings around the city.
